Welcome to Pack 186

Cub Scout Pack 186 is chartered by the Knights of Columbus of St. Francis of Assisi Church, in Rochester, Minnesota. We are in the Hiawatha District of the Gamehaven Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

The Pack meets once a month, usually the last Thursday night, from 7:00-8:00pm in McCarthy Hall. Each Cub Scout Den meets several times a month to work on advancement and activities. This year's activities include a halloween party, cake bake, rocket race, bingo night, and, of course, the pinewood derby. See the Calendar for details.

If you would like more information about Pack 186, please contact the Cubmaster, Art Warrington, or the webmaster, Bob Techentin

Please carefully read the attached district rules.

One common mix up on race day is wheels.  There are derby kits available at some hobby shops that are BSA but do not include official BSA wheels.  The only type of wheels allowed are those included in the kit given to you by the pack, or there are colored wheels at the district office which also qualify.

Weight is also a common race day situation.  The car must weigh 5 ounces or less according to the official race day scale.  The scale used is part of the district track kit and is not available for use prior to race day.  If you do not have a scale, the post office has one on their automated mailing system that will weigh things to ship or if you know someone at a grocery store you might be able to convince them to weigh it in the deli.  Feel free to bring extra weight on race day to attach and you can always use a drill to take off weight if it is too heavy.

One last item, graphite is not allowed in the school.  Use it before you show up.

Sunday, February 7, 2010 is Scout Sunday.   Pack 186 celebrates this tradition at Saint Francis of Assisi 10:00 a.m. Mass, and the Church of the Resurrection at the 11:30 a.m. Mass.  Cub Scouts should come in full uniform about a half an hour early.  We will process in and out with the Priest, and sit together for Mass.  Some scouts will be awarded the Parvuli Dei emblem.
